Heading Text
Failing 'Sandy' is so afraid of failing, she doesn't realize she has in some ways succeeded already & can relax.
Fascist Tactic 1 1. Decide on a target population that is very small, e.g. destitute owners of inexpensive guns.
2. Paint such people as 'evil,' using a new catchy name, such as 'Saturday Night Specials' or 'Junk Guns,' or 'Cop-Killer Bullets.'
3. Pass laws first to slightly, then more severely restrict the newly defined 'evil.' Repeat that 'we' just haven't done enough & need more funding & laws.
Fear vs Caution Big difference. Caution is wisdom vs an unknown. Fear is an overreaction from an ancient survival reflex.
Ex: King D. and the burning oil.
Fears - False - Anarchy 1 Not 'no leader,' but
'Everyone is a leader...' of his own life.
Group w/o a single leader can't be conquered or controlled by despots.
'Who's in charge?' 'I am' 'I am' etc. Analogy of flock of birds: There is no leader; all know where to go. If one decides to head off elsewhere, no one else is endangered. Cf. with flock of sheep, who follow even a "Judas Goat" to their peril.
Fears - False - Anarchy 2 We are trained in gov't schools to fear and loathe anarchy. In reality, it's 'autarchy' everyone rules himself.
Fears - False - Big Corporations The larger they are, the less efficient. Even ordering a pencil would take days.
More applicable to large, consolidated gov'ts.
Not afraid of GM, they don't have an IRS to force me to pay for their cars, nor guns to make me obey. If they use the gov't to limit choices, make Jap. cars cost more, etc, gov't is still the vill.
Fears - False - Emergencies 1 Gov't is ready to declare disaster areas to hook people with loans, look beneficial, and get some PR for FEMA.
Also, use terrorism, etc as excuses for legislation that controls us more.
Fears - False - Emergencies 2 Gov't is ready to declare disaster areas to hook people with loans, look beneficial, and get some PR for FEMA.
Also, use terrorism, etc as excuses for legislation that controls us more.
Fears - False - Nat'l Security Big difference. Caution is wisdom vs an unknown. Fear is an overreaction from an ancient survival reflex.
Ex: King D. and the burning oil.
Fears - False - o' the Week 1 Usually gov'ts use 'National Security' to define fears WE should have (nuclear proliferation, etc). They really mean 'gov't security,' or security of their own power position. Nixon used this extensively and it was transparent then.
Fears - False - o' the Week 2 A technique used by media to keep you watching and by gov't to 'hire' them to solve the problems they usually have caused (epidemics, energy problems, gang wars, etc).
Fears - Others' You will be facing the fears of those who:
1. Will lose a lot of self-esteem if their way, the 'established' way, turns out to be worse than yours.
2. Fear the 'chaos' the free way will cause. Might also lose material things: property, investments, etc.
Fight - How To 1 Better chance of winning, bringing opponent into your world, rather than fighting in theirs. Don't fight a political enemy with politics, that's their expertise. Make them come into your free world to seek you out. Not their forte.
Examples: Boxing vs wrestling as a kid, and The Silent Partner" Gould vs Plummer."
Fight - How To 2 Best defense (quote the Aikido Master) is to 'not be there' either before any conflict begins, or even once it starts.
Don't be on the same violent page as the wanna-be opponent.
Focus 1 Focus on the right things; don't be distracted by those who want to control the debate and therefore your attention.
E.g. Not on 'livable cities' but why is gov't saying where people should live & how much to pay... and why does gov't really own all property? Not 'who's the NWO?' but 'it appears someone is controlling such things; doesn't matter who, but... do we even need gov'ts to tell us how to live our lives?'
And:
'How can I become immune to such influences, no matter who they are and why they exist?'
Follow the Money 1 Federal Reserve is Neither
Money lender who benefits from all debts, including the Gov't.
You pay interest on Gov't loans thru taxes & corp loans thru price of products.
Football as Metaphor One reason gov't subsidizes and aggrandizes football is that as propaganda, it furthers notions:
1. Achieving goals by force
2. Unimportance of individual (except coach who is out of harms way & QB who is to be protected).'Soldiers' are expendable to achieve collective goal.
3. Importance of collective ('we' won! -- who is 'we?'). Football is a model for how gov't operates: Mindless, invoving brute force, confrontational, us vs them, short-term solutions, brief spurts of action with long, boring dwells of doing nothing, identify with team no matter what (= patriotism).
Foreword - What If? Given my personality, what would I have done if born into a totalitarian country?
Probably the same, but gotten out, at some point.
US is heading for tot-ism, but at this point, still free-est country.
Deal w/reality of the changes by opting out as much as you are comfortable.
Foreword 1 Book is not...
Book is...
If you are a person whose schedule is closing in, work is taking over your life
New, clear view of reality.
Foreword 2 Book is not...
Book is...
If you are a person whose schedule is closing in, work is taking over your life
New, clear view of reality.
Foreword 3 Given my personality, what would I have done if born into a totalitarian country?
Probably the same, but gotten out, at some point.
US is heading for tot-ism, but at this point, still free-est country.
Deal w/reality of the changes by opting out as much as you are comfortable.
Foreword 4 Been up & down about writing this book. Felt I couldn't do it honestly unless I was living it.
So far, can't do the 'George' thing of living out of a van. Geo is a special case, being a sort of hermit, not = me.
Book is about finding that balance of freedom & good life (comfort).
Foreword 5 Ever since I was a kid, I was looking forward, maybe a little too far. I got sent out of class in 4th grade for positing that the continents all fit together. I questioned why car tires weren't self-sealing.
So, take this book that way: As a futurist's plan, but partly wishful thinking, too. It's a workable plan, but probably much of it not for 50 yrs.
Foreword 6 Quotation from movie 'Con Air' : Garland
Greene (Steve Buscemi): 'What if I told you insane was working fifty hours a week in some office for fifty years, at the end of which they tell you to piss off, ending up in some retirement village hoping to die before suffering the indignity of trying to make it to the toilet on time? Wouldn’t you consider that to be insane?' (c) 1997 Buena Vista Pictures
Foreword 7 How to define your own 'Promised Land' and then be your own Moses.
Freedom - Always Here We just have to rediscover it.
Freedom - Attitudes 1 It is NOT free to look down on the masses as 'ants' or worker bees except as an analogy to make a point.
No gloating, in particular... you have a ways to go, yourself!
Instead, have compassion for them. Try to influence them by example, word and deed. Get them to see the ant hill for what it is: An escapable slave plantation, where even the masters are slaves.
Freedom - Attitudes 2 Analogy of Buster the Dog. Bred to have a small head & trained to act cute & nothing more. Don't be angry at him for what he is, try to raise him up.
Same for Sheeple, try to educate them.
They'll become the analogy of Thoreau's Snake, thawing in the late winter sun, being able to fully move and act.
Freedom - Benefits 1 1. Less stress due to more choice in life
2. Less angst over possessions - theft
3. Less angst over possessions - envy
4. Less hostility in general
5. Less crime, so less need for strong police force with sweeping 'rights' and intrusion = less need for oppressive, intrusive gov't and big taxes.
6. Better health
7. More self reliance also = less govt.
Freedom - Choice of Four ways of dealing with dissatisfaction with the status quo:
Complacency (someone else will change it, or we can live with it)
Change from within the system - proven fruitless
Bloody revolution - replaces one corrupt power with another (e.g French Rev.)
Gandhi way: Withhold obedience.
Freedom - Degrees 1 You don't need to become ascetic. In my case, a condo was better than a house, an apt better than a condo, a smaller apt was better than a bigger one.
Material goods don't bring happiness, but living in a material world, we need some of them to deal with it (e.g. a heater).
Less is more!
Freedom - Degrees 2 You don't need to live in a van, but take a look at your life & see if you can be freer by detaching from some of the controls, even just the media's manipulation of you.
You can at least be freer than you are.
Your solution has to be authentic for who YOU are.
Freedom - Eden Paved Over Freedom is all around us; we just need to learn to see it.
Freedom - Enemies & Friends Enemies: Gov't, religion, propaganda, most advertising, materialism, obligations 'assumed' for you, collectivist thinking, rigid controls, lowest common denominator 'education' and lawmaking.
Friends: Individuality, flexible schedule, daydreaming, creativity.
Freedom - Giving Up Preemptively It is worse to give up a freedom pre-emptively, thinking someone else <might> take it otherwise. E.g. 'voluntary' censorship of networks in US is worse than gov't censorship in GB or France.
Also, bikers who self-regulate re: noise, dress, etc, 'before others do' are worse & mores strict than the 'others' might have been.
Freedom - Is It Free? Those who say freedom isn't free are probably selling you liberty, its pale copy.
Freedom - Kinds Several kinds:
Mental
Physical
Economic
Social
Freedom - Measuring How do you measure freedom?
You're a slave if you can't NOT do something, e.g. work, avoid the draft, avoid taxes.
The degree of YOUR freedom is the percentage of time each day you can spend doing what YOU choose to do.,"
Freedom - Money 1" "Money cannot make you free. You start worrying about IT.
Someone else's money cannot make you free (e.g. sugar daddy/mommy idea). You become dependent on pleasing them or living by their rules."
Freedom - Quotes 1a A State which dwarfs its men, in order that they might become more docile instruments in its hands - even for beneficial purposes - will find that with small men no great thing can be accomplished, and that the perfection of machinery to which it has sacrificed everything will, in the end, avail it nothing, ...
Freedom - Quotes 1b A State which dwarfs its men, in order that they might become more docile instruments in its hands - even for beneficial purposes - will find that with small men no great thing can be accomplished, and that the perfection of machinery to which it has sacrificed everything will, in the end, avail it nothing, ...
Freedom - Quotes 2 While the people have property, arms in their hands and only a spark of noble spirit, the most corrupt congress must be mad to form any project of tyranny. - Colonial newspaper columnist
Freedom - Quotes 3 Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe. - Noah Webster
Freedom - Quotes 4 To disarm the people; that... Was the best and most effectual way to enslave them. - George Mason, co-framer of the Bill of Rights
Freedom - Quotes 5 To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them. - Richard Henry Lee, co-framer of the Bill of Rights, 'Letters from the Federal Framer'
Freedom - Quotes 6 A government resting on a minority is an aristocracy, not a Republic, and could not be safe with a numerical and physical force against it, without a standing army, an enslaved press, and a disarmed populace. - 'The Federalist' No. 46, J Madison & J Hamilton, ed. 1864
Freedom - Requirements Requirements:
Self discipline... too easy to sleep in, depend on welfare, etc. Wrong only in that you are not achieving what you could for YOURSELF.
Freedom - Spectrum 2 Ends To do the RV thing, but spend most of your life working to afford a $100k RV and a house in Florida... vs working for maybe 10 yrs to buy a $10k RV and no house.
Are you working to help gov't? Be neutral toward it, or help bring a real change about (bring it down)?
Freedom - Steps 1 Show steps to take to become free(r)
1. Outta debt
2. Lower 'nut'
3. Less material desire - shed extras
4. < full-time job or work under ct.
5. Less dependence on others and esp. others' opinions.
Freedom - Steps 2 Some of the steps to freedom just involve thinking differently, not changing a life style element.
E.g. Knowing you're immune to the 'fear of the week.'
'Laws, what laws?'
Questioning assumptions of you & others.
No 'we.' Not be leader nor follower.
Freedom - Steps 3 Continuum Fighting the 'black & white' world view, there is a continuum of freedom, too. Not everyone can live at 'Walden.' If we all reduce our work weeks to maybe 3 days a week, say, then that's 4 days the accountant can be honing his musical love, or finding which art or science is truly his.
This makes him a better neighbor, too, as he's less stressed & puts work into perspective, not an end in itself.
Freedom - Styles 1 Doing the 'free' thing on weekends is at least a mind-clearer, and a taste of what it's like to be away from taxes, regulations, etc as much as possible in this country.
Freedom - Styles 2 Experiment with your freedom level.
1st, try on weekends, cheap to do, but get 'regular' life in order 1st.
RV is a big investment. Test it on a small scale, 1st.
In my case, trading my '94 sports car for an appropriate sized van.
Show plans of interior for diff. sizes.
Freedom - Styles 3 Show pix of van, etc.
Energy of a project in progress is a good release, even if you don't keep & do this.
Plus, the goal keeps you thinking of how to be free, instead of a slave.
Freedom - Truly Some can't handle lots of freedom; they need security. They can live at a different level than the truly free, but shouldn't disturb the latter to subsidize the security.
The truly free are almost another race; difference between an eagle and an ant.
There are also parakeets!
Freedom - Way to 1 One advantage to being in this country is the infrastructure around us. If you can avail yourself of them without becoming a slave to them, you are halfway to a free life.
Freedom - Way to 2 Sidestep oppression:
Aikido a) I wouldn't be there, b) Circular dance to guide harm away. c) Tongue Fu d) Act like favorite movie heroes: Draw villain into YOUR world & style & thus win or repel him/it."
Freedom - Way to 3 Lesson from WTC attacks.
Counterproductive to meet suppression with counter-force.
Eg: Terrorism which is in response to suppression, just infuriates resisted gov't and makes them kill more. Doesn't work in Israel, N. Ireland or UK (IRA). Gandhi's way did work.
Freedom - Why? What is the reason to be free, what advantage? Because slavery wastes what your life could be.
Why live like George, for example?
What if everyone did? Answer: Everyone would have his own version of it, based on who he truly is. Some would still work together to meet ends which are mutually beneficial. E.g. protection from crooks.
Freedom & Flying I became interested in aviation (& pet birds) as an early expression of freedom. As aviation became less free (more expensive & regulated), I turned to motorcycles.
M/Cs give mobility at low cost.
Friends - Choosing Stick with: Intellectuals, people who are looking beyond the surface.
Avoid: Shallow people, 'me' generation, those who actually believe TV.
Future - Communities 1 Slab city is an example of the variety of communities to evolve into.
There will be a need and desire for cities, but probably not the megalopolises. They are fueled by consumerism and materialism, which will decay somewhat. To the extent it does not, and people desire a slavelike but relatively 'secure' existence, industry will continue, but not as widespread.
Future - In Your Hands 1 Pitfalls of putting your future in someone else's hands. Their goals diff. from yours & prob. cause anguish, waiting, subservience.
Having your own goals, humble if necessary to maint. control yourself, means you write your own ticket.
Future - In Your Hands 2 Unborn tomorrow & dead yesterday, why fret about them if today be sweet?' -- Omar Khayyam
Add: Make your todays sweet yourself and you'll look forward to tomorrows and your yesterdays will be worth remembering.
'Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.'
Future - In Your Hands 3 'You, only you, can make it happen.' Wil Powers
Games 1 Don't be seduced into playing someone else's game.
E.g. the Capitalism Game: WSJ ad on TV suggests that to handle spoiled kids you have to send them to a real french restaurant, etc. Instead, have them learn how to live a good life enjoying the finer non-materialistic things. 'Adventures in Capitalism' is the wrong game.
Games 2 When you do play someone else's game, such as 'Adventures in Capitalism' or 'Democracy,' you have to play by their rules. They live in that world. The deck is stacked so that even if you perceive that you have 'won,' they win bigger with a piece of your action.
E.g. moneylenders.
Games 3 If you play your own game, with or without others, you decide what 'winning' is and anyone entering must play by YOUR rules.
Better yet: Ignore the game and the rules don't matter
Garbage Fill If you let your mind be filled with garbage (hate, politics, consumerism, lust) there will be little room for else.
Garbage In, Garbage Out If you hate your life or job, it isn't all your fault. You've been given bum info as to 'Arbeit macht Frei' (Zappa quote), gov't as provider & savior, and being defined by what you do for a living.
Tell of conv. w/Louis where he defined himself as 'Engineer/Planner,' not 'human being, thinker, freedome seeker' for example.
Ghost - Being Be as a ghost to those who would control you.
Goal - Desirable Even if Unattainable Isn't freedom from government a desirable state, even if you believe it's unattainable? Having it as a goal, we could get as close as possible to it, even if we never attain it 100%.
Goals - Uebermensch Not in the perverted by Hitler, et al. But to be immersed in creating your own beauty, not bound by the rules others have laid, esp if for their own protection.
God - Even if None Even if those feelings or 'messages' come from your own intuition, from within, and not from a 'God,' they are still valid and worth heeding.
God - Proof of Proof of a God is circular. That is, one defines a God as 'one whose existence is proven by...' and then fills in that blank.
I don't say there is not God, just that it has not, and perhaps cannot, be proven by logical means. Therefore, as a logical positivist, I move on to other matters.
If prayer be meditation, pray on!
God - Whether or Not Whether there is a God or not, the world ceases to seem big, scary, lawless and dangerous if you believe there's someone big out there who loves you.
God vs Government God may take away, but first, he gives. When gov't gives, it must first have taken, as it does not create. It merely redistributes... taking a big cut first, of course.
God's Hints Once I became open to his 'hints,' I've seen others. I'm sure there are newer opportunities, etc, which I have not seen & I apologize to Him for that every night as part of my prayers.
Good Path? Any mom's 'What if everyone did it?' will work.
If everyone were Bill Gates?
If everyone were Bill Clinton?
If everyone were 'George?'
If everyone were you (reader)?
Good vs Evil 01 People basically know which course of action will be of greatest benefit or of greatest harm. This is usually 'good vs bad' or conscience.
This sometimes gets warped by propaganda, which allows rationalization of 'bad.'
Government, Death of 1 People just decide it's unnecessary & begin to ignore it. Stop funding it, etc.
Will gov't stand still for this or invent new 'Waco's'?
Government, Death of 2 People use non-cash transactions more & more. Sales and income tax sources dry up. Gov't can't decode transactions enough or use 'money laundering' powers to trample these people. Sources of revenue dry up. Gov't shrinks to virtually nothing.
Gov't - Abuse of Power or ? The real problem in government is not the abuse of power, but the power to abuse. - Perry Willis, former Lib'n Party Official
Gov't - Ants not Given Thought We working ants are not considered w.r. to where we'll live (housing costs, eminent domain) or impact of taxes, but 'in' crowd, plus (supposedly) very lowly are considered w.r. to 'Ballparks,' 'Conv. Centers' 'Affordable Housing' (diff. at our expense). Tax base and influence w/benefit to real 'machers' are only considered.
Gov't - as Parasite Show how gov't types are parasites, esp the Clinton & Diana Spencer types.
Also, gov't itself is a parasite.
If it provides a service, it should bill for it, even in advance, rather than tax and confiscate.
Gov't - Bad Example 01 One reason for violence in society (real, not am't portrayed by media) is bad example gov't sets in using violence to achieve stated aims (Kosovo, Bosnia, Somalia, Waco)
Gov't - Behavior Test What if GM behaved as gov't does:
Confiscated $$ from all and gave cars 'per need' to some. That's what gov't does with our dough. If it didn't need to be done by force (confiscation), to bypass our true desires for our $, we wouldn't have gov't. We can do better with voluntary means of charity, big projects (if needed), etc. EG gov't forces us to work in cities to be taxed.
Gov't - Better Way or Substitute for 01 1. Local voluntary associations, such as Talmudic, Amish or nudist colonies. Sign or other indication would indicate implied consent if you enter there to obey their rules.
2. Statewide assoc's might exist, but as below.
3. Federal assoc's might exist, but would bill for services (viz).
Gov't - Better Way or Substitute for 02 Billing instead of taxing ties cost of service to 'voting' for it by paying. Current way separates the two. A bond, for example, seems so easy when just checking a block, rather than ok'ing an actual dollar amount to set aside your share of a payment.
Just on that basis alone, what a different place this would be (e.g. no tax-funded ballparks, space-stations...)
Gov't - Blind Giant Can be guided by powerful groups, but which are less powerful than gov't itself. Thus, e.g. lobbyists leverage their power to become equal to that of gov't for that particular issue.
A cable co. couldn't enforce itself as a monopoly, but influences the few w/gov't power to enforce it for them.
Gov't - Brainwashing They think it's the best we can do to keep 'others' in line.
Been taught that the alternative is anarchy, but anarchy just means no ruler. Which means 'self rule.' Which isn't 'chaos' but even if it were, so what?
Gov't - Bread & Circus Professional sports, as subsidized and taken part in by gov't, is the modern equiv. of Rome's 'Bread and Circus,' a principle used by emperors to keep people's minds off the real prob's and be satisfied with their enslavement.
Bread = Ensure 'welfare' of people, just enough to prevent revolution.
Circus = Diversion from the real problems.
Gov't - Cannot Create, Except Scarcity Gov't can only confiscate, keep a cut, then dole out as it sees fit.
It must first steal before bestowing its 'benevolence.' Therefore, 'charity' at what cost, and to whom?
If you don't 'contribute' an arbitrary 'fair share,' they send the IRS thugs, with extra-constitutional powers.
Gov't - Capability Known by People My ideas are just what this country was founded on, not what it's become.
One reason the Dem's recent accusations of Bush is catching on is this: Deep inside, people know that the gov't 'leaders' are CAPABLE of knowing of an attack and letting it happen for its own power-related reasons.
Gov't - Coercion: Alternatives There is not one good thing that gov't does which cannot be done through voluntary, cooperative means.
Diff is: Gov't is quicker, but uses force to TAKE or SUPPRESS to reach the same, often good goals.
Worse: Sometimes (e.g. 'Wag the Dog' War) goals are not good, but you don't get a real choice.
Gov't - Coercive Advantage of Taking this away would ensure competition for services such as postal delivery, energy, roads, cable TV, instead of monopoly of or protected by the gov't.
Even if we didn't get everything we now get from gov't, it wouldn't be at the expense of freedom or the economic harm we now receive.
Gov't - Control of Charity, why it's bad With voluntary charity, individ. decides how much he can spare and gives it directly; usually judges how well used.
Gov't charity is involuntary, elites decide 'fair share' of the masses, take a cut (for gov't or agencies), so dilute 'good' produced, and usually don't judge effectiveness, only PR (e.g. art & CPB).
Who knows better than YOU what you can spare & where it should go?
Gov't - Control of Economy, why it's bad 3 ways this hurts econ, as def. by GNP (useful production):
1. Takes $ to make things which are unused or destroyed (bombs, space sta's)
2. Takes $ & gives to foreign POWERS who misuse, or in any case don't help our GNP.
3. Takes $ & props up unproductive people (welfare) or units (pays farmers NOT to grow X.
Gov't - Corrupt when Punishing #1 gov't action against criminals, esp. big-buck ones is not restitution to victims, not rehabilitation. They go to 'gentlemen's prisons,' if at all. Aim is gov't 'cut' of stolen property or money. E.g. Milliken, Keating 5 and Enron fines: Will 'Kenny Boy' ever be convicted?.
Gov't - Death of, Scenario 1 People just decide it's unnecessary & begin to ignore it. Stop funding it, etc.
Will gov't stand still for this or invent new 'Waco's'?
Gov't - Death of, Scenario 2 People use non-cash transactions more & more. Sales and income tax sources dry up. Gov't can't decode transactions enough or use 'money laundering' powers to trample these people. Sources of revenue dry up. Gov't shrinks to virtually nothing.',''
'Gov't - Dependency 01','Gov't makes people dependent on it by:
Inventing enemies (eg terrorists) from whom only they can save us.
Redefining reality to show them as heroes.
Creating monopolies for themselves, eg currency, regulation of airways, & economy in general.
Gov't - Dependency 02 Sexualizing kids & then offering the 'cures' for single parent teens, disease etc.
Self-perpetuating welfare.
Policies eg monopolies & scarcities which raise prices, then offer 'solution' of taxing everyone to help 'needy' requiring the items.
Gov't - Divides to Conquer... Us! Might have been a revolution already, but gov't & media have kept dividing people into artificial groups & classes & then set one against another, using self-app'td 'leaders' (ac'ly dupes) such as J. Jackson & A. Sharpton, ACT-UP etc.
Creates fiction of eg: Black or Gay 'community'
They squash true dissenters such as Waco & Gordon Call.
Gov't - Does do some Good But at high expense in lives & property
End doesn't justify the means
Gov't doesn't create the good, just takes from big group, keeps some & passes the goodies on to 'approved good'
Gov't - Does Not Preserve or Conserve Gov't pretends to conserve and preserve. It really just TAKES & reallocates, then prone to selling out (e.g. timber to big lumber co's & gold to Canada)
Gov't - Does some Good - But... But at high expense in lives & property
End doesn't justify the means - Sets example of immorality and mutable ethics.
Gov't doesn't create the good, just takes from big group, keeps some & passes the goodies on to an 'approved good.' Or, cronies (Parsons, Halliburton, etc).
Gov't - Doesn't Really Exist Prob. w/patriotism is, countries and gov'ts don't really exist. They are like corporations, figments of legal imagination.
Knowing this & acting on it can empower you to minimize harm or even obviate existence of these 'gangs' from your life.
Let 'em play w/each other - Just ignore them!
Gov't - Empl's are Servants, not Leaders Danger of looking at gov't members as our 'leaders' rather than public servants elected to do our will.
As 'leaders,' they may be privy to knowledge they won't divulge to us (or say the are, a la Nixon's 'Secret Plan' to end the V-war), and doing things that hurt some 'for good of the collective.'
Gov't - Enslaves by Definition Free Country' is an oxymoron, as is 'Leader of the Free World.'
Gov't quickly gets preoccupied with its own security & safety (e.g. Nixon).
Borders guarded in both directions (passports), restrictions, spies, policing of even the most minor activity (bedroom laws, 'controlled substances'). 'Crimes' such as smuggling, treason, sedition, etc. wouldn't exist w/o govt.
Gov't - Excesses Waco Branch Davidian 'compound' was destroyed over an allegation over $400 tax owed.
What if YOU owed the gov't $1000?
Gov't - Excuses to Grow Gov't uses Boogeyman or 'Fear of the Week' to get you to be for its further growth. E.g. Centers (?) for Disease Control recently classified obesity not only as a 'disease,' but as an epidemic.
Reason Foundation: '...a huge, blinking sign of how government agencies overstep any conceivably legitimate authority [no accountability to us] in search of excuses to live.'
Then, 'solutions' are never big enough. All gov'ts do this.
Gov't - Failures of Socialism 01 Rotting of infrastructure in current Nat'l Parks, schools, etc are decried as evidence not enough is collected. To me, it shows the implicit failure of gov't, due to lack of direct responsibility or stewardship, and reverse incentive to run out a budget to ask for a higher one. Some individ's feel the stewardship, but can't buck the system which is implicitly dysfunctional.
Socialism brings out mediocrity, in that the collective is not allowed excellence, but all must be mediocre, e.g. health care, education.
Of course, gov't officials create exceptions for themselves, e.g. health care and ret't plans for congressmen far exceeds what we get. They opt out of what they force us to accept, and we often have no choices, esp. re: paying!
Gov't - Failures of Socialism 02 Socialism grows due to 'women's POV,' i.e. focus on purported victims & how 'we' the collective must help them. No regard is given to the inequity of the money, property & rights taken by threat of force (taxation, condemnation, etc) to 'help' the vicims. All the while, the taker (gov't) extracts its own take (fee) for making the switch. Then, it makes it hard, even impossible for victims to jump the hoops req'd to coll.
Gov't - Fears - Internet Gov't fears internet & uses 'the children' excuse to try to control:
Economic freedom, maybe new type of cash would release gov'ts hold on economy
Above would also disable taxation, making gov't lose involuntary sources of revenue
Gov't fears ideas & direct contact w/'enemies' to learn reality of them.
Gov't - Foreign Aid, Some Real Reasons Corrupt... actually welfare for connected co's (weps, construction co's etc.)
E.g. bomb Kosovo, then silently award reconstruction contract to Parsons. US Taxpayer pays to destroy, then also to rebuild. Same in Iraq, except we first paid to build up a decent-sized boogeyman.
Also, shipping money overseas can disguise gov't inflating the currency.
Gov't - Futility of Fighting Directly As to gov't, I feel it has become hopeless to 'clean up' gov't or make it safe. I advocate personal lifestyle and attitude changes which insulate us from gov'ts' most evil deeds and trends.
Gov't - Goals 01 1. Billing instead of taxing
2. Long-term, having no gov't at all. Maybe some duties (e.g. defense and roads) would be by co-op ventures.
We'd be better off... why:
Gov't's goal is 100% confiscation, then dole out to us per who is perceived 'worthy' by need or by who helps polticians or gov't.
Doesn't matter Rep or Dem, as ultimately they want it all & to do it all 'for' us.
Each new 'problem' has as solution less freedom & more gov't power.
Gov't - God Use 1 Will be replaced by 'We Want Your Stuff.'
Gov't - History of Evidence sugg. that gov'ts came from roving bandits who plundered nomadic tribes & wanted to settle down. In return for 'taxes' or 'tribute,' the robbers would 'protect' the tribe from other robbers and of course themselves.
This may be apocryphal, but watching gov'ts operate (boogey man, patriotism, etc) it's impossible to ignore the similarity.
Gov't - How it Will Fall Not thru armed revolution - that's playing a game they are good at.
But, by giving less and less of what's yours, to them, by more and more people. Eventually, gov't will shrink to, maybe past its Constitutional size.
Eventually, most affect on you will be by small, local gov'ts, smaller than states, maybe countie size.
Gov't - How Things Would Function - 01 Smaller communities, in which members have control & choose fewest rules needed.
No taxes; any entity providing service would simply bill.
Evicted from community for disobeying rules; you know 'em up front & simple & few enough to easily follow.
Many would live in isolation.
Gov't - How Things Would Function - 02 Only services provided are those entered into voluntarily, e.g. Roads: you pay only if you use 'em.
Everyone is a leader... of himself.
Gov't - How Things Would Function - 03 Only thing resembling gov'ts would be small communities. Everyone could find one to suit himself.
All ideas, even communism, could thrive in a small community, 'cause it wouldn't become powerful enough to go out of control as the USSR & China did. E.g. kibbutzim work as communistic communities because everyone really has a voice.
Gov't - Immorality Base Problem 1 Our biggest problem is that governments, which are supposed to uphold such a code, are the worst violators of same.
Founding F's felt someone chosen to SERVE in gov't would rise to the occasion and be ennobled. Now, reverse is true. Most enter gov't look for power and thus are debased. Voting themselves big pensions & raises = ruling class & underclass. FFs didn't want that!
Gov't - Immorality Base Problem 2 Our biggest problem is that governments, which are supposed to uphold such a code, are the worst violators of same.
Hard to avoid gov't - it comes after you.
'Flexible' Constitution.
Influence peddling.
Gov't - Immorality Example Is a group moral if it forces you to contribute money, doesn't keep track of how much you put in (they track 'quarters' or 'credits' not dollars) and instead of setting it aside for you, figure out later how much to give you, with the design of never returning as much as you put in, let alone giving you interest for the loan.
Gov't - Immorality Test Which things is it ok to steal for, using gov't power and which things are not? If ok, who decides when it's ok to steal from you?
If you believe in gov't you believe in slavery... you for your project, others for theirs.
Which things is it ok to enslave people, even if 'only' from Jan - May each year?
My answer is: Nothing!
Gov't - Immorality: Bad Becomes Good When baddies have power, they automatically redefine themselves as 'good.'
Jos. Kennedy, Israeli terrorists who became politicians, greedy record co's who screw artists become 'victims,' O. North, R. Hedgecock, and gov't pgms (DHS) renamed to sound good. Also, make new criminals out of innocents: 'tax cheats,' 'smugglers,' 'militiae.'
Gov't - Inconsistencies Illegal drug sales is an economic crime for which there are mandatory sentences. Murder has no mandatory sentence. Priorities?
Gov't - Inefficient at Simple Things If they can't deliver mail, why use gov't to deliver health care, consumer protection, insurance (bailouts for bumblers & crooks), or even 'justice?'
Gov't - Inefficient at Simple Things If they can't deliver mail, why use gov't to deliver health care, consumer protection, insurance (bailouts for bumblers & crooks), or even 'justice?'
Gov't - Inefficient at Simple Things If they can't deliver mail, why use gov't to deliver health care, consumer protection, insurance (bailouts for bumblers & crooks), or even 'justice?'
Gov't - Intrinsic Immorality of But for the ability to tax (steal) and confiscate property and take away rights, government would be benign, even beneficial. However, these powers automaticallly produce corruption and abuse.
Even the best results of gov't are produced by an immoral act: Taking from innocent bystanders who often do not benefit at all.
Gov't - Is Not 'America' the Country If listening to news, don't equate 'America at War with Cuba' with 'people of...' It's 'Government of...'
Detaching yourself from your gov't - or any collective - will give a better perspective of what animosities there really are.
E.g: 'The Rift between Blacks & Jews.'
Gov't - Is not the People But... a 'country' is a fiction anyway, just as 'our' football team isn't really 'ours.'
Your allegiance, maybe even your life, certainly your money & property, are 'given' to a gov't, not an amorphous country.
America is a continent, the country is called 'U.S. of America!'
Gov't - Keep Weak, if at All Humans cannot design a gov't which doesn't eventually become corrupt, oppressive and evil. This is because of a weakness in people such that any gov't seems inadequate w/o more power. With power, it attracts those who crave even more power. These must have power over someone, and they will control information such that the masses will desire the control!
Thus for gov't to be safe, it must be weak, if it should even exist at all.
Gov't - Lies They'll protect us, but they create new enemies & worse weps to fight same. Drug war is really war on our own people.
They'll pay us SS, but use it for other stuff.
Gun control will protect us.
They'll build airports, but most money is used elsewhere or to offset deficit.
'Lone gunman' type of stories less believable due to more imp. above lies.
Gov't - Lies & Fears They'll protect us, but they create new enemies & worse weps to fight same. Drug war is really war on our own people.
They'll pay us SS, but use it for other stuff.
Gun control will protect us.
They'll build airports, but most money is used elsewhere or to offset deficit.
'Lone gunman/bomber' & 'Coincidence Theory' type of stories less believable due to more imp. above lies.
Gov't itself (Sup Ct) says it has no duty to protect any individual (except, Pres & other elites).
Gov't - Lobbyists, Influence Peddlers They enjoy the idea of gov't force ruling us. They only have to convince (bribe) a handful of legislators or bureaucrats, rather than convince us to choose their product or service.
Gov't - Master or Servant? We are ruled and robbed by people who claim to be leaders, but SHOULD be our servants, to implement OUR will. Often they override election or referendum results of the people.
Gov't - Medals Note that sometimes gov't awards high medals for medium achievement. This is because the loftier the medal, the more it elevates the gov't's perhaps heinous action.
E.g. DFC given to pilot of EP-3 forced down into China. He did not choose a risk to save the planes' secrets (e.g. ditching), but saved the crew at the EXPENSE of the secrets. Same with AF pilot shot down in Kosovo... his job was to NOT get shot down, yet he was deified as a way of sanctifying the war.
Gov't - Minimum 01 Create your own 'Mingovia,' (see www.mingovia.org) or join with others.
Internet sites for similar minarchies, but they all seem to include taxation. Why this is wrong.
For now, we could aim for a gov't (diff. name?) which provides minimum needed by force:
Courts, police, nat'l defense, fire (?)
Everything else, market provided
They should still bill for service, rather than tax.
Gov't - Nazis not Far Reason I have trouble with any form of gov't is that even our constit'l form reserves for itself IN PRACTICE any power to preserve itself - seen as preserving those IN power. E.g. WW II incarcerations w/o due process, asset 'forfeiture,' Waco & Elian G.
Nothing is PROscribed to save gov't itself... not on paper, in practice!
Gov't - Need for Control? Do you feel you need someone to tell you how to live your life?
If not, why subject others to your whim by force of gov't?
Gov't - None - How Would Function 1 Smaller communities, in which members have control & choose fewest rules needed.
No taxes; any entity providing service would simply bill.
Evicted from community for disobeying rules; you know 'em up front & simple & few enough to easily follow.
Many would live in isolation.
Gov't - None - How Would Function 2 Only services provided are those entered into voluntarily, e.g. Roads: you pay only if you use 'em.
Everyone is a leader... of himself.
Gov't - None - How Would Function 3 Only thing resembling gov'ts would be small communities. Everyone could find one to suit himself.
All ideas, even communism, could thrive in a small community, 'cause it wouldn't become powerful enough to go out of control as the USSR & China did. E.g. kibbutzim work as communistic communities because everyone really has a voice.
Gov't - Not 100% Evil, but... Coercive is wrong, no matter what the reason.
E.g. stealing is wrong, even if done for the poor.
May be time to move from the net providing side to the net benefitting side of the equation.
Gov't - Orig. Well Intended 01 For example in the US.
Now, they've exempted themselves from their own rules, and the very philosophy of God-given rights they were founded on. Time to do some cleaning!
No matter how good gov't person's intentions are, after they've been in for a while, they become arrogant. Slightly diff. for civ. service, but basically...
Originally intended as a framework for orderly society. It has overstepped those bounds & now is a controlling parasite, taking much and giving little, if anything.
Now needed? Why, at least, why as a coercive entity? Why not fund voluntarily?
Gov't - Palaces The bigger the real or pseudo-palaces, the more oppressive the gov't.
Gov't - Parasite 01 Show how gov't types are parasites, esp the Clinton & Diana Spencer types.
Also, gov't itself is a parasite.
If it provides a service, it should bill for it, even in advance, rather than tax and confiscate.
Whole idea is unfair: designed to collect from those who don't benefit.
Gov't - Parasite 02 Once enlightened as to gov't's parasitic nature, one can't go back. Every program spending YOUR money brings a tic to the eye; makes one clasp that wallet suspiciously.
To again think of gov't as a benefit, one would have to be convinced that a sporozoan is a good thing, and that malaria is a boon, not a disease. -- Author Unknown
Gov't - Permissions Gov't has mutated into entity which says it must give permission for you to have guns, keep certain am't of money you earn, pay for use of your own property.
Time has come to say, no, you, the gov't exist only with my permission. I hereby withhold same.
Gov't - Pol's S.B. Servants, not Leaders Danger of looking at gov't members as our 'leaders' rather than public servants elected to do our will.
They prefer to be 'leaders.' They may be privy to knowledge they won't divulge to us (or say the are, a la Nixon's 'Secret Plan' to end the V-war), and doing things that hurt some 'for good of the collective.'
Gov't - Pretensions of The government pretends to be the solution to all problems... they are usually the cause of the problem they want you to pay them to solve.
Gov't - Prevents Evil? Gov't pretends that, if given enough power, it can PREVENT evil (shootings, etc). Each time evil happens, they say, 'see, we need more power to prevent shootings, etc.'
Resulting oppression causes pressure that comes out in other ways (militias, ultra-right wing).
Is there barbed wire in heaven?
Gov't - Privatization not the Answer ...but it is a good first step.
Problem: E.g. Indianapolis saved $400 millin by putting 80 city services out to bid, but did they give the savings back to the taxpayer? No. Theoretically, it might have delayed the next, inevitable, tax increase, though.
Gov't - Protection Evils gov't supposedly protects us from are mostly created by or made worse by them. E.g. Terrorism, homelessness, anything threatening 'the children,' etc.
Take away gov't and the evil disappears or is made miniscule, esp miniscule compared to confiscatory and draconian effects of gov't power supposed to fight said 'evil.'
Gov't purports to look out for us.
Instead, it protects itself above all else, usually at the expense of at least many of those on whose money and goods it feeds and without which it wouldn't even exist.
Gov't - Purpose Gov't isn't needed to achieve goals that people want; those can be achieved through voluntary cooperation. It's needed where force is required, to achieve goals that people DON'T want. Or that people wouldn't want if they knew the true purpose (war for oil, football stadium to enrich the select insiders, 'art' such as urine-soaked crosses, which no one would otherwise buy, etc).
Gov't - Re-Frames Debate Gov't and media (which just parrots gov't because it needs access to same) try to frame debates to assume facts not in evidence. We must question the assumptions made to have a really intelligent quest for the truth. E.g. calling it 'Operation Just Cause' does not mean there is a moral or ethical basis for invading Panama.
Gov't - Renaming Coming up with a new name for 'Government' will imply a new role for it. One which is less coercive and less preemptive of individual rights.
Ability to tax should not be implicit, because lots of other coercions flow from this (e.g. eminent domain, 'no knock' entry).
One example: Harmonium. Co-Op?
Gov't - Renaming Might be Futile I had thought of finding a new word for what government should be. One sugg. was 'commonwealth' - too socialistic. Anyway, as long as there is something to 'govern' us, it will grow in power until it becomes a monster and we its slaves. So the answer is to invent something totally new and too weak to overpower us... ever!
Gov't - Rights Nothing in nature or morality gives gov't the *right* to special privelege of being able to *take* what it 'needs.' Its 'fair share' is self-determined, where is the basis for that?
If gov't truly provides needed services, it should be able to bill for them, even in advance, with normal redresses, not special confiscation rights.
Gov't - Science - Unreliability Acid rain evil 'til shown it's caused by animal feces decomposing.
Global warming disproven later but still referred to at times (usually just on hot days).
Gov't - Short-Term Thinker Gov't thinks short-term (e.g. by next elections) to, for instance, pay its debts to detriment of citizens' long-term welfare (e.g. clearcutting rain forests).
They think longer-term when it comes to consolidating power, e.g. suspending civil rights or increasing taxes (which hurt the economy).
Gov't - Stay Under the Radar Understand the rules, e.g. taxation, and live in such a way that they don't apply to you.
Gov't - Symbolism Important Declaration of Independence is saved in a helium-filled container. At night, it's in a nuclear-resistant vault. Why? Because though its precepts are being trashed daily by our gov't, the SYMBOLISM is what's important. Same for why, though White House & Capitol bldg were evacuated, USAF would've shot down a passenger plane rather over population, rather than have it damage those SYMBOLS of what our gov't SHOULD BE
Gov't - Takes, Doesn't Create From a woman whose mother just died, trying to meet gov't deadlines:
'I can't believe it: People work and save all their lives, saving
THEIR money, then die and the government steps in and takes their "fair share..." as THEY define fairness.
Gov't - Taking the Teeth Gov't without the ability to tax, confiscate property, kill citizens not engaged in crimes (e.g. Branch Davidians, Ruby Ridge family), and abridge rights, becomes benign.
Make gov't send you a bill for services, like any other service provider, and see what happens... of course, they won't let you 'make' them do it... they need their taxes, etc.
Gov't - Too Powerful They're no longer playing by the original rules - bend or redefine 'em.
All they need is a thin excuse to break into your house, confiscate your stuff or even kill. How long before they don't even need an excuse? PATRIOT Act (note propagandistic name) another big step to totalitarianism. However, ever since Waco, I've felt all bets were off & they only used the Constitution as toilet paper. May they get infected paper cuts!
Gov't - Truth In Advertising On dollar bill, for "truth in advertising," change 'In God We Trust,' to 'We Want Your Stuff.'
Change 'E Pluribus Unum' to 'Arbeit Macht Frei.'
Gov't - US of A Our country is the United States of America, not the Federal Republic of America. States are supposed to be different, to accommodate the differences of their people. Not marching lock-step to the beat of a Federal Master.
Gov't - Waste 01 Clearcutting only done by gov't behest:
1. On gov't 'owned' land, where erosion costs no one, done by private co's w/gov't permission.
2. On gov't lands (e.g. Brazil) to pay debts incurred by gov't to World Bank, etc.
Gov't - Wedges 01 The PGA (Augusta, females, wheelchairs) is about a decade too late decrying federal intervention into private rules.
We, the Sheeple allowed local and FedGov the liberty to dictate to private entities when 'we' allowed them to set up special parking areas for the 'disabled,' define specially protected groups with "hate" crimes, and give tickets on private property.
Gov't - Wedges 02 In usual government fashion, even if someone is disabled, they would still get a ticket if they didn't buy the special permit.
And, many connected to 'easy' MDs can get permits with no real disability. What 'they' want is the power and the income.
Handicap permits were the tip of the wedge which led to Sup.Ct. decision forcing PGA to change its rules.
Gov't - Wedges 03 A long time ago, the gov't got into personal regulation when it used 'discrimination' as a pretext. We all discriminate every day. It's only wrong when it forces someone out of something they're really entitled to. No one is entitled to what I legitimately have or do.
So, sympathy for the helpless was the tip o' the wedge which led to last week's Supreme Court decision forcing the PGA to change its own rules on private property at a private function. 'We' must deal with the result, now that the government tail is wagging the populace's dog.
Gov't - Wedges 04 As you know, government, especially the federal version, now feels few if any boundaries to its arrogance and exercise of power. Historically, 'They' always start with the pretext of helping the helpless or 'the children,' and end up controlling everything.
Gov't - Wedges 05 Discrimination BY the government, where we are all forced to pay for facilities but groups would be excluded from access... THAT's what's wrong. I am entitled to use a public highway, not access to a private club or tournament.
Gov't - Well Intended Now, they've exempted themselves from their own rules, and the very philosophy of god-given rights they were founded on. Time to do some cleaning!
No matter how good gov't person's intentions are, after they've been in for a while, they become arrogant. Slightly different for civil service, but basically...
Originally intended as a framework for orderly society. It has overstepped those bounds & now is a controlling parasite, taking much and giving little, if anything.
Now needed? Why, at least why as a coercive entity? Why not fund voluntarily?
Gov't - Why Owns Schools? 01 The purpose of having a gov't run schooling, esp. at the federal level, was sold as a way to equally educate rich & poor. This, of course was never done; rich still get better schools.
So this can only be for uniform molding of minds as they wish them.
Gov't - Why Vaccines? Why does gov't fund vaccines, such as flu shots? Aside from creating 'just another 'need,'' it's to keep the slaves healthy enough to be productive and earn more taxes!
Gov't - Would Be Benign ... but for the ability to tax (steal) and confiscate property and take away rights, government would be benign.
With these powers, come corruption and abuse.
Even the best products of gov't are produced by taking from innocent bystanders who may not benefit at all.
Gov't - You Can't Own Property You pay tribute to the gov't for its use. They can take it away w/o a trial if you don't pay. Who really owns it?
Gov't & Oil Prices 1. Carter resp. for 1st 'shortage.'
2. Current price incr. has cooperation of govt
a. Follow 1 bbl % of eastern oil price incr in mix to % incr of gas $$
b. Compare how long the bbl would take to get to US, vs instant hikes
3. Compare price of marked prod. A con!
Gov't may coin money but that's just a token of value. Esp. nowadays, it has no value. I.e. don't chase money!"
Grasshopper - Being a G-Hopper vs Ant story.
- Yes, G. has predators, such as rats & snakes, but a good G. stays high out of reach and can jump quickly, one step ahead of them.
- Pred's that eat ants, don't target individ. ants, but lick up the masses, since they are in mindless clumps.
- Yes they both die, but a G. does so after a happy, leaping life.
Greatness vs Bigness Being big isn't necessarily being great. In fact usually the opposite. Kennedy(s), Clinton, Reagan were big, not great.
Judge this by works & deeds, not by the PR firm's efforts at building an image. E.g. old vs new Jimmy Carter.
Ability to control doesn't make one great, just big (Goliath).
Guts Needed Need guts to be free, even in minor matters.
Can you to to work w/o a tie or other badge of their ability to tell you what to wear or your station to tell others what to do?
Happiness 1 There can be no happiness if the things we believe in are different from the things we do." Allude to story of greyhounds chasing a fake rabbit & what happens when the rabbit stops & they see it's fake.
Heaven - Hell Hell exists on earth, yes. I won't live in it. Heaven exists on earth, too. Why NOT live in it?
Herd Only Protects Itself Relate Dr. Laura's story of the Disney movie in which the herd swerves back to protect a wildebeest calf from lions & how she was swooning over this.
In reality, the herd does not protect individuals, only the collective itself; the calf would've been abandoned for the good of the herd at large. In my view,
If the herd won't protect, you owe no allegiance to it.
History - Learning from Yes, you can learn from history, but there are many books on history of philosophy. (refer some)
Instead of worrying about what Aristotle said to Onassis, let's get on with what applies to YOU, HERE, NOW.
Holy Men Note the difference between Maharishi, Werner Erhard, Wayne Dyer, etc, who, once big" are only accessible to the rich & famous. Compare to Gandhi, Buddha, Christ, Mother Theresa, Thoreau, et al, who were always availble to the "lowly."
Human Nature - Why Sheep-Like? Humans' sheep-like quality isn't really natural. It's an abuse of our social and trusting nature. We are trained into it.
Human State Can we return, even partly, to the natural nomadic state, or have we been too tempted by materialism and tamed by gov't run education and media to see it as evil and scary?
Ideas - Seminar What is Phreedom?" - A state of mind and a state of being. Par's Zen in a way, but is more reality and action based; a practical approach. Or: Assoc. of Intellectuals, wherein, to be accepted, proposed members must submit a paper on their philosophy of life or point of view & be reviewed by a panel.
Ignorance - Loudness of Why is ignorance louder than wisdom? (C)rap plays loudest from the kids' cars... words of extreme anger with no wisdom as to why they are angry, at what, or what to do to solve it.
Intellect - Warnings Don't become a 'useful fool'
Example of new freon & costs thereof, just to profit DuPont.
Gov't uses false heroes such as JFK Jr and Princess Di to make our station clearer and false hope we could become such or even assoc. w/them.
Introduction 1 I'm existentialist, therefore don't believe in order" in univ. Only imposed or imagined by man. Won't be many stat's in book, as numbers swayed or even invented depending on who is commissioning study (eg AIDS & "Kids' gun deaths, TV ratings & cost of living fig's). Error rates not stated but often higher than statistic quoted.
Introduction 2 Yes, this is the best country in the world right now, but gov't is headed in the wrong direction & many people don't seem to notice.
More people killed by their own gov'ts than killed by others in wars. Apx 3x, hard to nail due to Cambodia, Russia etc hiding stats. Doesn't include countries making up jolly wars" & sending their folks to die in 'em."
Introduction 3 We don't want to end up like Cambodia, etc, so must put foot down, at least in our own lives.
Jobs 1 From Taxi Driver: "Wizard: You get a job. You become the job."
Jobs 2 Louis: See there are 'good' jobs one can enjoy." I answer, "Well, as long as YOU choose the hours and can spend most of each day enjoying it and working toward whatever greatness is within you." I then add "But some of us have had the greatness beaten or soaked out of us. Maybe a 'job' is all that's left for those poor wretches."
Jokes 1 For every action there is an equal and opposite government program. - Bob Wells
Jokes 2 - Groucho Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it, misdiagnosing it, and then misapplying the wrong remedies. - Groucho Marx
Jokes 3 - Marion Berry Outside of the killings, we have one of the lowest crime rates in the country.
- DC Mayor Marion Berry
Jokes 4 - Kissinger Ninty percent of the politicians give the other ten percent a bad reputation. - Henry Kissinger
Jokes 5 - O'Rourke When buying and selling are controlled by legislation, the first things to be bought and sold are legislators. - PJ O'Rourke
Jokes 6 - Tomlin Ninety-eight percent of the adults in this country are decent, hard-working, honest Americans. It's the other lousy two percent that get all the publicity. But then, we elected them. -
Lily Tomlin
Jokes 7 - O'Rourke Politicians are interested in people. Not that this is always a virtue:
Fleas are interested in dogs.
 - PJ O'Rourke
Jokes 8 - Quayle I believe we are on an irreversible trend toward more freedom and democracy, but that could change. - Dan Quayle
Jokes 9 - Surgeons Four surgeons - who's easiest to operate on: Accountants, everything inside is numbered, electricians color-coded, librarians in alphabetical order. Fourth surgeon says politicians are the easiest: There are no guts, no heart, and no spine, and the head and ass are interchangeable!
Justice In order to get justice, you have to create it yourself... by getting them" to play YOUR game. E.g. Mary quitting instead of waiting for a raise ("go fish")"
